Still Humans is an evolving exploration of modern existence, examining the fragile illusion of free will and control that defines contemporary life.
Supported by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Still Humans debuted in Athens in 2023, marking the beginning of its journey through profound themes of human detachment, resilience and existential isolation.
This multimedia project features a powerful sculpture installation, Obedient Bodies, Beneath the Silence, composed of skeletal, compliant figures crafted from white ceramics. These forms symbolize individuals who, though unique, appear hauntingly alike, capturing the quiet conformity of modern life. Each ceramic figure embodies the shared silence and internal disconnection that many experience today, reflecting a world where individuality fades and the sacredness of life is lost.
Hidden Layers
Alongside the sculptures, Still Humans also includes intricate ink-on-paper works that further explore the themes of resilience and silent struggle. Together, these works evoke the hidden layers of modern existence, highlighting the uniformity and isolation that shape human lives.
Alive Together
The project’s immersive experience is heightened by a live performance and original music composition, intensifying the audience’s journey into the silent struggles that pervade contemporary life. These elements together aim to awaken a realization of our shared humanity and resilience. The goal of Still Humans is to confront these silent, often unnoticed layers of modern existence, igniting a recognition of the sacred essence we each carry. This project is a call to reclaim our humanity, cultivate resilience and find strength in shared experience. In the skeletal forms, ink drawings, and silent figures, Still Humans reflects a resilience that endures, a humanity that persists, even in silence.
By confronting these themes, Still Humans invites each of us to rediscover the beauty and strength of simply being alive.
