This sculpture, Icarus II/VIII, is a unique cast within a planned series of eight, though it currently stands alone in the Netherlands and the first one is in Greece, as the other editions have yet to be cast.

Crafted in solid bronze with a rich, deep red patina, it presents a grounded and powerful interpretation of the Icarus myth.

Unlike the airy blues or delicate whites of other works, the intense bronze and red tones here evoke warmth, resilience, and intensity, giving the piece an organic quality as if Icarus himself were forged from the elements—embodying strength and passion.

The layered structure, characteristic of the Icarus series, gives a sense of upward movement and trajectory. Yet the weight and depth of the bronze, paired with the gravity of the red patina, make this piece feel firmly anchored, capturing the enduring spirit of Icarus—a figure unafraid of the challenges and heat of his journey. The dark, earthy red hints at fire and light, symbolizing both the warmth of his ambition and the boldness of his pursuit.

As the only cast of its kind so far, Icarus II/VIII carries an individuality and exclusivity that enhance its allure. It stands as a singular representation of human aspiration, resilience, and the unbreakable connection to our deepest desires and passions. This unique piece embodies the spirit of Icarus as timeless, daring, and endlessly reaching toward the light.
