The ceramic Obedient Bodies form the foundation of this series, embodying the quiet resilience and vulnerability that exist within patterns of conformity.

Each ceramic figure, skeletal and minimalist, is individually crafted yet nearly indistinguishable from the others, symbolizing how unique identities can be subsumed within a collective routine.

These forms appear trapped in endless labor, representing the cyclical nature of daily life and how we often operate within unseen boundaries.

The choice of ceramics as a medium emphasizes fragility, reflecting the delicate balance between compliance and rebellion. The material reminds us that although we may feel bound to a prescribed path, there is always the risk—and potential—of breaking free. The ceramic bodies, with their silent endurance, serve as reminders of the human spirit’s capacity to endure conformity but also the potential to shatter it. Through these figures, Athanasia encourages viewers to examine the repetitive, sometimes invisible, patterns that shape their own lives.
