My studio is located in the Carré building, part of the Foundation Ateliers Tilburg (Stichting Ateliers Tilburg), a dynamic hub for artists in the heart of Tilburg.
This large, light-filled space offers the perfect environment for diving into the creative process—developing ideas, experimenting with materials, and transforming concepts into tangible works of art. Yet, this studio holds a profound personal significance that intertwines with my own history and the city of Tilburg itself.
Returning to My Roots
Tilburg is not just the city where I work—it’s the city where I grew up. After spending years living in Greece, a place deeply embedded in my heart and work, I have returned to Tilburg, reconnecting with the city of my childhood.
Tilburg has transformed during my time away, evolving into a vibrant cultural hub with a thriving art scene. Once known for its industrial and textile heritage, the city has reinvented itself with a focus on innovation, creativity and community. Its openness to artists and new ideas is reflected in spaces like the Tilburg Ateliers Foundation. These shared environments bring together a diversity of creators, fostering collaboration and inspiration.
Returning here has been both grounding and invigorating, allowing me to integrate the influences of my time in Greece with the familiar rhythms of Tilburg. The city provides a sense of homecoming and an environment where I can explore new artistic directions.
This connection to Tilburg takes on a deeper significance in my studio’s location. The Carré building was once the Elisabeth Hospital, a place of care and healing. As a child, I had a life-altering experience there when I was rushed to the hospital after a sudden internal hemorrhage. I vividly recall the fear, the danger and eventually the sight of blood—a moment that left a permanent imprint on me.
Years later, I asked my father where he had taken me during that terrifying time, and I was stunned to learn that it was this very building. To now find myself working in a space that once saved my life feels almost surreal. It’s as if a circle has closed, transforming a place tied to fear into one of creativity and growth. Perhaps this is part of a healing process, a way of making peace with my past while using it as a source of strength and inspiration.
Where Ideas Become Artworks
My studio is more than just a workspace—it is a sanctuary where ideas come to life. Every piece of art I create begins with a concept, often rooted in the myths of Greece, existential questions, or deeply personal stories. My creative process is immersive and exploratory, blending reflection with experimentation.
The spaciousness of my studio allows me to work freely, whether I’m sketching initial ideas, painting large canvases, or shaping sculptural forms. Natural light floods the room, creating an energizing and meditative atmosphere. This light is not just practical—it feels symbolic, illuminating my thoughts and helping me stay deeply connected to the process of creation.
In this space, I am free to experiment, to push boundaries, and to embrace the unpredictable. Art is not only about the finished work but about the journey—the dialogue between myself and the materials, the merging of inspiration and execution.
A Space to Share
While my studio is deeply personal, it is also a place I love to share. I welcome visitors to step into this world, to see my work in progress and to connect with the stories and emotions behind each piece. It’s a space for dialogue, where art becomes a bridge between creator and audience.
An Open Invitation
Tilburg has given me so much—a childhood filled with formative experiences, a reconnection to my roots and now this studio in the Carré building. It is a place where the past and present converge, where fear has transformed into healing, and where creativity flourishes.
I warmly invite you to visit my studio, to experience this meaningful space and to join me in exploring the power of art as it transforms ideas into creations, stories into expressions and spaces into sanctuaries.
